A FAMILY, A TEAM,<br>A STORY

A FAMILY, A TEAM,
A STORY

Since 1885, 6 generations have shaped the history of the BOUGRIER FAMILY... It all started in 1885, when Achille GUENAULT-COUSIN discovered the Hauts Lieux plateau in Touraine in the commune of Saint Georges sur Cher. Passionate about this terroir and the potential of its wines, he never left it again to create the Domaine GUENAULT… Since then, several generations have participated in the development and reputation of our terroirs and our appellations on this great vineyard that is the Loire Valley: Maria Guenault, Maurice Bougrier then Jean-Claude Bougrier, 4th generations, worked successively in this way...

THE CAVES OF TOURANGELLE

Since 1995, Franck Chatelain has been in charge of all winemaking on this site located in Saint Georges sur Cher, where we vinify and age our Touraine Sauvignon blanc, Touraine Rouge, Touraine Rosé, Rosé de Loire, etc. each year. Franck was joined in 2014 by Marlène Bruche, also an oenologist.

NANTES CELLARS

The house's latest vintage, the Caves de la Nantaise were born in 2008 and have since been directed by Lionel Métaireau. They are located in the town of Le Pallet in the heart of the Nantes vineyards where we vinify our varietal wines, Muscadets AOP, Sèvre & Maine and Sèvre & Maine sur Lie.

Our Story

Since 1885, 6 generations have shaped the history of the BOUGRIER FAMILY...

It all started in 1885, when Achille GUENAULT-COUSIN discovered the Hauts Lieux plateau in Touraine in the commune of Saint Georges sur Cher.

Passionate about this terroir and the potential of its wines, he never left it again to create the Domaine GUENAULT…
Since then, several generations have participated in the development and reputation of our terroirs and our appellations.

on this great vineyard that is the Loire Valley: Maria Guenault, Maurice Bougrier then Jean-Claude Bougrier, 4th generations, worked successively in this way...

Since his arrival at the head of the house in 1988, Noël BOUGRIER, fifth generation, has been able to give a new dimension to the family house...

First, it made the dream of previous generations come true by expanding the coverage of the home to the whole

from the Loire Valley of Sancerre to the Pays Nantais with the successive creations of our 3 cellars:

The Caves de la Tourangelle in Touraine in 1995, the Caves de l'Angevine in Anjou in 2000 then the Caves de la Nantaise in Muscadet in 2008…

Finally, through his travels, he has become a true ambassador of our vineyard by developing the image of our house...

This is why our wines are now served on some of the greatest tables in the world...

In 2015, Nicolas BOUGRIER joined the family business, joined five years later by his sister Sophie.

It is therefore today 2 generations working side by side to achieve our sole objective:

Revealing the best expression of the Loire Valley, with the greatest respect for people and our terroir.

FAMILLE BOUGRIER has been working for 130 years for the recognition of Loire Valley wines

and is recognized today as one of the last family houses covering the whole of the Loire Valley, from Nantes to Sancerre...

LOIRE VALLEY

The Loire is not a long calm river...

Over more than 500 km, its banks and hillsides are adorned with an unparalleled variety of terroirs and climates capable of producing unique wines: the Loire Valley is undoubtedly the region of diversity, all in finesse and lightness. To discover without moderation…

4 major wine regions stand out from this vast ensemble: the vineyards of Centre-Val de Loire, Touraine, Anjou-Saumur and Pays Nantais. Each has its own geology and grape varieties, which gives our vineyard such diversity and makes it one of the most dynamic and lively vineyards in France.

Today, the Loire Valley is the 3rd French vineyard with more than 75,000 hectares and 73 appellations. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is one of the most beautiful landscapes designed by nature and shaped by man, as evidenced in particular by the famous castles of the Loire. Because yes, the Loire Valley or rather the Valley of the Kings has seen the birth of some of the most beautiful castles in France: the castle of the Dukes of Brittany in Nantes, Chenonceau, Amboise, Chambord, Cheverny, so many magical places which remind us that the Kings of France have always taken up residence in the Loire Valley...

THE VINEYARD

Since 1995, Noël Bougrier has set up 3 wineries to be able to offer a complete range of products covering the entire Loire Valley : les Caves de la Tourangelle in Touraine, Les Caves de L’Angevine  in Anjou-Saumur and Les  Caves de la Nantaise in the Muscadet.

Our vineyard illustrates on more than 100 ha (247 acres) and 2 Domains, the diversity of the terroirs of the Touraine region : the “Domaine GUENAULT”, at the origin of the history of the BOUGRIER FAMILY in 1855 and The “Domaine de LUSQUENEAU” located on the AOP Touraine Mesland.

Our oenologist, Guillaume Noiret has been managing these estates for almost 10 years now with wines that are regularly rewarded.
